Our Story

Born in a Texas Church. Built for Every Congregation.

God's Rangers began with a simple conviction: the people best positioned to protect a congregation are the ones who worship alongside them.

Where It Started

God's Rangers was founded at Southern Oaks Church under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Joe M. Taylor and Lon E. Musgrove. What began as a local effort to formalize church security grew into a statewide program — the first of its kind to commission church volunteers as licensed security officers under the Texas Private Security Bureau.

The program was built on a foundational belief: that protecting a house of worship requires more than tactical training. It requires people who understand the culture of the church, who know the congregation by name, and who carry their faith into every decision they make on duty.

Today, God's Rangers serves churches and synagogues across Texas — and is actively expanding to additional states — training and commissioning security teams that are indistinguishable from the congregations they protect.

Our Mission

To equip and commission church security teams with the training, credentials, and character to protect their congregations — without compromising the welcoming spirit that defines a house of worship.

Faith First

Every decision we make — from curriculum design to team selection — is grounded in our commitment to honoring God and serving His people.

Credentialed Excellence

We hold our Rangers to the same standards as licensed security professionals, because the people in those pews deserve nothing less.

Community Trust

Our Rangers are members of the congregation. They are known, trusted, and accountable to the community they protect.

Continuous Readiness

Threats evolve. Our training does too. We provide ongoing education, refresher certification, and coordination with local law enforcement.
